Description

World Sailing Offshore Personal Survival Course

Join the RYA/World Sailing Personal Survival Course to gain essential skills and knowledge for handling emergencies at sea.

Are you a seasoned racer or cruiser?  This is ideal for those embarking on blue water cruises, where immediate help may be out of reach.

Following the Sydney – Hobart race, it was noted that crews that trained together had a higher survival rate. Consequently, we suggest that crews attend this course together if feasible.

To attain the comprehensive World Sailing Offshore Safety Certification, participants must complete this course alongside the RYA Sea Survival course. Additionally, we strongly encourage attendance at our RYA First Aid course. While not mandatory for the World Sailing certificate itself, a certain number of crew must have valid first aid training for specific races.

  • Our course aligns with the training standards specified in World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations 6.01 for category 0, 1, and certain category 2 offshore races.

By blending theoretical knowledge with practical hands-on training, the RYA/World Sailing Offshore Safety Course ensures you’re ready to tackle any maritime challenge.

Wavelength Training will supply lifejackets for the course, but participants should bring their own wet-weather clothing. However, we do have some available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us if you need them.

Wavelength Training and Taste the Blue will deliver the course in Carrickfergus, with practical sessions also held at a local pool.
