| course description: | Not a course for beginners! The advanced
powerboat course involves seamanship and coastal navigation as required
to drive a powerboat safely by day or night on the sea. This is the
highest level qualification and a pass is not an attendance certificate!
When commercially endorsed this certificate allows the holder to take
fare paying passengers 20 miles offshore - so successful students must
be highly proficient and safe sea going boat handlers. Search patterns, pilotage, night work, lights and day
marks, compass work and gps waypoint navigation are just some of the
topics covered. Clients should be competent boat handlers holding the National Powerboat Certificate with coastal endorsement and have a knowledge of navigation to Day Skipper level (possession of a Day Skipper certificate is not necessary). An intermediate certificate is highly recommended. |
