We are a family run RYA Training Centre in the NW of England about 10 miles North of Blackpool, and are recognised by Humber RiBs as their official training school. We teach lifeguards, HM Coastguard boat crews, and independent lifeboat and rescue boat crews, as well as divers, boat fishermen, professional boat users, RiB builders, conservation groups and, of course, people like ourselves who just enjoy powerboating at sea! We also run the courses for prospective instructors in all powerboating disciplines. We are of course fully insured and approved by the RYA.  

All tuition is carried out by personally by RYA Power Coach/Trainer Dave Mallett together with a small tight knit group of powerboat instructors. We have years of experience in the marine rescue services. Our instructors are all regular users of sports boats and ribs for pleasure and they are passionate about powerboating!  We do not employ dinghy sailors/career instructors who's powerboat instructor ticket is just part of their CV.

Dave is one of the best known RYAtrainer/coaches in the UK and has a worldwide reputation through both his magazine articles & teaching trips in foreign climes ranging from the Falklands to the Mexico/Belize barrier reef to deliver RYA Powerboat Training. 

Because our lives revolve around boats and boating the proceeds of the school end up back in the boats.  So we have nice bits of kit for you to learn on and some nice clothing to wear if yours is not up to the weather. All our boats have vhf/dsc radio for our safety. We are Humber RiBs recognised training school and our team drive their demo boats at the prestigious RIBEX boat show. No surprise then that our boats are all Humbers!

Dave Mallett, is appointed by the RYA as a power trainer - the ultimate award - to teach and examine prospective powerboat instructors so all our courses are run "in house".  Dave has written extensively for many boating titles including Sportsboat International, RiB International, & Boat Fisherman Magazines.    

But its not all serious stuff with no fun!
